Ripley’s Mermaids return on May 26! See the mermaids Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend! Live Shows, Meet & Greet, and Photos are available! Swimming June and July daily beginning Memorial Day. Call for dates and times in August through Labor Day.

“We are so excited about having the Mermaids back at the Aquarium. They are such a great addition to our Aquarium for everyone to enjoy of all ages. Everyone loves to be entertained by the mystical beauty of the Mermaids,” said Ryan DeSear, general manager of Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.

The mermaids will be performing daily at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. throughout the summer. The Mermaids are available for Meet and Greets at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Smoky Mountain Tunes & Tales @ Downtown Gatlinburg

Tunes & Tales is a summer-long street performance festival featuring costumed musical performers, storytellers and artisans portraying characters from time periods as far back as the 1800s.

Gatlinburg will present the 13th season of Smoky Mountain Tunes & Tales daily in downtown Gatlinburg. The collection of personalities and performers arrive nightly at 6 p.m. in the center of town. Visitors witness a magical transformation of sidewalk to stage as the characters disperse along the downtown Parkway for an evening of entertainment and storytelling.

This popular event truly highlights one of Gatlinburg’s greatest assets in the walkability of the city and provides guests with an interactive, educational and entertaining experience the whole family can enjoy.

“Gatlinburg is a walking town. Tunes & Tales enhances our visitors’ experience as they stroll the Parkway in the evenings,” said Marci Claude, PR Manager. “The performers bring to life traditional Smoky Mountain heritage and culture in a fun and interactive way.”

A unique characteristic of the Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair is the fact that artisans not only make their art available for viewing and sale, but also demonstrate their special talents and skills during this show, which is recognized as one of the top 20 events in the Southern U.S. by the Southeast Tourism Society.

Tentative hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Music shows are scheduled at 12, 2 and 4 p.m. daily, 12 and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Entertainment is included in the admission cost.

Enjoy a sales tax free weekend across the state of Tennessee! Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 27th, sales tax will not be charged on a variety of items, such as clothing, school supplies and computers. All Tennessee merchants must participate in the sales tax holiday. Clothing and school supplies must be less than $100 per item to qualify, and technology must be less than $1500 per item. Online purchases and purchases through apps also qualify if the purchase is paid for by the customer and accepted by the retailer during the holiday period for immediate shipment.

The Smokies Trot 5k will be held at 8:00 AM on July 28, 2018. Runners will start at Smokies Stadium and finish the race by rounding the bases then heading to home plate!

Beer and concessions will be sold during and after the event!

The 10-day festival downtown Gatlinburg featuring hit songwriters. Public invited for free live entertainment. Songwriter opportunities: song competition, workshops, co-writing with hit writers, mentoring sessions and stage spots. Rain or shine.

The SMSWF Mission is to promote songwriters and to help their talents and songs be discovered not only by publishers and producers, but also by all of us fans, who simply love the songs that the stars perform.
